Multi-select of tasks for batch edit

Please add the feature allowing selection of any group of tasks, not only via proper set of filters or Saved Search. For example, to click Menu-Multiselect option to switch to special mode where you can pick as many items you want, checkboxes next to each task could play this role in this mode to select multiple tasks. Batch edit tool could open automatically in this mode too so that you can decide what to do with selected tasks. After that it could come back to standard mode. Or any other alternative solution.

I've been testing on today but is doesn't work for me, because It always use all the tasks in the view you are, and not de selected yellow tasks.

Using only a keyboard shortcut for this is counterproductive. Only people who've read this thread or the deepest parts of the manual will know about it. Put a little icon somewhere on the screen that when you click it activates this mode for all tasks clicked until you click on the icon again.

Launched. In order to use this feature:
1) Ensure keyboard shortcuts are enabled (https://www.toodledo.com/account_edit.php?edit=11)
2) Click and hold the letter "L" and click on the tasks you want
3) Selected tasks will be highlighted in yellow and the batch edit menu will pop-up upon selecting a task in this way

aaron: This is great -- please see my note below.

aaron: Works, but BUG: In case the list is longer than the screen and it's scrolled down, the list starts scrolling up when pressing the L-Button. Tested with Chrome on Windows.

aaron: I don't want keyboard shortcuts enabled. For one, the shortcut keys aren't intuitive. Additionally, I don't want to accidentally do something unintended because my typing is interpreted as a shortcut. Really need to simply have a button or checkbox to toggle batch selection on/off.

chrisx: It used to me, but not anymore. Probably fixed now.

aaron: I don't want keyboard shortcuts enabled, either. In FF, I use quick search a lot (when you just start typing a word and it starts searching in page automatically). It would be nice to have another way to enter this "mode" in Toodledo.

aaron: Awesome! Great news!!!! Thank you.
Let me add my vote to what I am sure others are saying - why "L"? It clearly needs to be something in the left hand (right hand for the mouse) ideal one of the home keys a s d f. Otherwise it's very awkward to use.
Or perhaps the developer was one of the 10% (left handed)?
Thanks again,
- Paul.

chrisx: This happens to me too. Can't use L with long lists.

aaron: Thank you! Huge benefit and time saver!
I am experiencing the same scrolling up bug in Safari on Mac.

aaron: I am on a MacOS. The 'L' key does not initiate the multi-select flyout dialog. All the other hot keys seem to work properly. Tried on Firefox, Safari, and Chrome.
J
J.O.D. 2024
shelmar.crop: The flyout will appear only when you click the first task while holding L - so only when at least one task is selected.

aaron: What am I doing wrong? I have shortcuts enabled I have tried any combination of clicking and holding L and tasks do not highlight in yellow and the batch edit window does not pop-up?

No reply in this forum and finally worked it out
May I suggest that the instruction is changed
from "2) Click and hold the letter "L" and click on the tasks you want"
to "2) Press and hold the letter "L" and click on the tasks you want"
Thanks

shelmar.crop: I'm having the same problem. All my hotkeys work except the 'L'. I'm using Chrome. Any suggestions?
s

James.mcmechan: as mentioned above, the trick is to HOLD the L key and keep holding it while you click on the tasks you want to update (if you are right handed it requires a little dexterity). After clicking the first task, a flyout appears and it gets updated as you click on the others you want to update. After selecting all the tasks, release the L key and then work with the flyout dialog to complete the update.
Also, this worksw with tasks.toodledo.com, but I don't think it works with toodledo.com/tasks.
Hope this helps.

shelmar.crop: Thanks for the help but its still not working for me on either address. The other shortcuts do work, however???

This is great -- it's been my #1 request for at least ten years. (Yes, I've been a TD user that long, maybe longer). However, just from one day's testing, I think the "press L and while holding it down click on items" is suboptimal as a UI. Already twice I've ended up with a string of "l"s in my task names because the task was selected. You have to have nothing selected when you hold the L key. A separate "select mode" button in the top bar perhaps? Multiselect isn't something you do 100 times/day (but perhaps once a day) so I'd prefer a UI button to the current scheme.
However, the auto-opening of batch mode when you start to multiselect tasks is brilliant. Keep that! (IMHO)

I love Toodledo but one nuisance is rescheduling my tasks. I frequently have Tasks that are past due and want to move them to new dates. In Toodledo, this means setting a new date for each one individually. I would like to be able to select a group of tasks and easily move them to a specific day, especially for overdue tasks. A simpler batch edit feature as described in this thread could work well for this.

I like this. Perhaps a button that makes the checkboxes appear only when you want to do this.

please look at how pocket informant does this in their mobile app, it is great!
