Psst! Let me tell you a secret. The only Emoticon that works in toodledo is coffee mug. :D
We want emoticons/icons, I want to feel, happy, sad, joyous etc. when I see my tasks. That's my gamification mantra. Not asking you to make ponies fly like asana. But Please for god's sake give us basic emoticons.

I think I'm doing the exact same thing, but the emoji turns into a question mark.
Because I'm on my computer, I don't have an emoji button on my keyboard, so I copy standard emojis and paste them in. They are there when I click out of the task, but if I refresh the screen, or if I go to another folder and then back to the folder where I put the emoji in a task, it has changed to a question mark. There are a very few emojis that work: The recycle emoji, coffee emoji, and lightning emoji have all stayed. I also tried putting an emoji in through toodledo app on my Android phone, and it also turned into a question mark. Attached, is a picture of my computer screen. You can see the three emojis that stick and also at the top where the soap emoji for the task "Do the wash" turned into a question mark.
My computer is a recent PC with Windows 10, and my phone is a Samsung Note 9 (Android)

RMTrinity: Ah ok, got it...Can you go to https://tasks.toodledo.com and see if it works there?
R

PamelaH: You're right, it works. Is the URL I was using an old one? (toodledo.com/tasks). Even the format of Toodledo at the new URL you gave me looks different. You can see which are recurring tasks right in the checkbox because of the circular arrow. I can't tell you how many years I've used Toodledo, so it's very possible I bookmarked that URL at least 5 or 10 years ago.

Oh, and also once I synched my Toodledo app on my Samsung Note 9 (Android), all the emojis appeared perfectly.
Now, of course, the problem is I'll spend the rest of the night monkeying 🐒 around with emojis and get nothing else done. 🤷🏻♂️

RMTrinity: :-)...Just a word of caution...they probably will view ok on the Android app, but I think if you try to edit any of them, the emojis will turn back into question marks. The next version of the app we are working on will support them fully!

RMTrinity: This "new" tasks section at tasks.toodledo.com was released by Jake in 2018, I believe. Any new users automatically default to this view, but existing users weren't forced to that view. If you want to change the default, you can change it in settings here: https://www.toodledo.com/account_edit.php?edit=7 (change "Task Section Version" to "new" instead of "original"). And of course, update any old bookmarks you have

in progress
Emoji support added for tasks! Not fully supported yet for folders, but coming soon. It doesn't work on the mobile apps (unfortunately you'll need to wait for our updated mobile apps coming out early 2022).

Oh, I spoke too soon. Most of the emojiis I tried to put into tasks appear at first after you make the task, but if you click off that folder and then come back, they have all been turn to question marks. :(

RMTrinity: Is this on the mobile app or the desktop website? Would you mind filing a support ticket with more details? Also, are you using tasks.toodledo.com or toodledo.com/tasks?
R
RMTrinity
PamelaH: This is on the desktop app.

RMTrinity: Are you using any mobile app (either Toodledo or a 3rd party one)? There is currently a limitation that if you edit the task from any mobile app, the emojis disappear, but I haven't experience what you are describing. Here's what I'm doing -- 1) add an emoji, 2) click to a different part of the webpage, open a new browser refresh 3) I still see the emojis, until I edit/complete that task on a mobile app. What am I doing differently than you?

PamelaH: Oops! I think my reply showed up above. It starts with "I think I'm doing the exact same thing..."

Emoji Support — Makes tasks pop!

It would be nice to be able to include emojis in tasks. It gives a real visual punch to groups of similar tasks. E.g., I use the writing a emojii at the beginning of all my writing tasks. The only other two I have found that work are the star emoji and the coffee emoji. I don't imagine this would be a complicated coding change.

3bit ones do, 4 bit don't. Theres about 50 ones on iOS that do, most don't. Complete support please!
